What to Bring on a Hurghada Boat Trip: A Simple Checklist

Knowing what to bring on a Hurghada boat trip makes the day easier before it even starts. Pickup is early, most of the gear is provided, and a day on the water is easier with a short, sensible bag than with a heavy one.

This checklist comes from the details on our own trip pages, so it matches what our guests are actually asked to bring. Programs and timings can change with weather and sea conditions, and we confirm the final details with you on WhatsApp when you book.

The essentials every trip asks for

For our island boat trips, such as Orange Bay Island and Hula Hula Island, the trip pages list the same set of mandatory items. Put these in your bag first and the rest is detail.

  • Your passport, or at least a clear photo of it on your phone (a photo of your passport on your phone is what our Ozirea, Magawish and Dolphin House pages ask for).
  • Comfortable clothes for the transfer and the time on the island.
  • Swimwear, worn under your clothes if you like.
  • Sunscreen, because you spend most of the day outdoors on the boat and the beach.
  • Sunglasses.

What is already provided, so you can pack lighter

Most of what people worry about is covered by the trip itself. On the Orange Bay Island trip, for example, the price of EUR 25 per person includes the hotel transfer to the marina, the boat cruise, snorkeling gear (mask, fins and life jacket), a snorkeling guide, two guided snorkeling stops, beach chairs, unlimited water, tea and coffee on the boat, and an open buffet lunch. The Hula Hula Island trip lists a similar package, with umbrellas, beanbags and sunbeds on the island as well.

So you do not need to bring your own snorkeling set unless you prefer your own. One exception to check: the Eden Island trip lists snorkeling gear rental as an extra, so if you book that one, ask us about gear when you message us.

Easy extras worth packing

Our trip pages suggest a few extra items that are not mandatory but are useful, depending on the trip. Not every item applies to every trip, so treat this as a menu rather than a rule.

  • A towel: towels are listed as not included on the Orange Bay and Ozirea trips, so bring your own.
  • A hat for the hours on deck and the beach.
  • A water bottle: suggested for the Magawish and Dolphin House trips.
  • A camera or a phone you do not mind getting splashed. Professional photos and videos by the trip photographer are an extra on several trips.
  • A power bank: suggested on our Dolphin House page for the long day out.
  • Some cash for extras, as suggested on the Ozirea trip. Island drinks and photographer sessions are not included in the price on several trips.
  • A light jacket in winter: suggested on our Dolphin House page for winter trips.

How the list changes from trip to trip

The basic list stays the same, but each trip has small differences. On Ozirea Island you spend about three hours of free time on the island with access to the pool, so a towel and a camera matter more. On Magawish Island you have two guided snorkeling stops and about an hour and a half on the island and beach, so a water bottle and a hat are easy wins.

The Dolphin House boat trip adds a power bank and, in winter, a light jacket. It also offers dolphin watching with a chance to swim with dolphins. Dolphins move freely, so sightings cannot be guaranteed, and a charged phone or camera is worth having either way.

Check these before you leave the hotel

A few practical points are not about your bag, but they affect your day. Pickup times vary by trip, from around 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, and the exact time is confirmed on WhatsApp after you book. Some trips list a national park or environmental fee as payable locally if it applies, and transfers from hotels outside Hurghada city can carry an extra fee on some trips, so ask us for your hotel when you book.

  • Passport or passport photo packed.
  • Swimwear, sunscreen and sunglasses packed.
  • Towel and hat in the bag.
  • Water bottle filled and phone charged.
  • Pickup time and hotel name confirmed on WhatsApp.
  • Cash ready for extras and any local fee your trip lists.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?

Usually no. Most of our boat trips include a mask, fins or snorkel and a life jacket and a snorkeling guide. The Eden Island trip lists gear rental as an extra, so ask us when you book.

Should I bring my actual passport?

Our Orange Bay and Hula Hula pages list ID or passport as a mandatory item, and our Ozirea, Magawish and Dolphin House pages ask for a photo of your passport on your phone. We confirm which applies to your trip on WhatsApp.

Are towels provided?

No. Towels are listed as not included on the Orange Bay and Ozirea trips, so bring your own.

Is lunch included, or should I bring food?

Lunch is included on our island boat trips, as an open buffet or lunch on board depending on the trip. Drinks outside the buffet may cost extra, so a water bottle and some cash are useful.

How do I book?
